Wenger never likes taking players back - he says once you leave Arsenal that is it.
He said the same about Henry & Flamini - he hates them leaving - I think that is why he did not take Fabregas back because he felt betrayed by him.

Agree about Southampton and also think we will get beaten Saturday.
But with a sensible amount of investment we really should be in the mini league with Everton and Tottenham. Villa were there for years until the year on year investment in the squad dropped off. With the new stadium on the horizon our transfer spend should increase. Starting with Song hopefully

Unlike some WHOers Somg has the vision to see that we are going to become a very big side in the not too distant future. It is clear from what he has said that Song is excited by that and wants to be part of it.... if we qualify for Europe this season he will stay and I wouldn't be that surprised if he stayed even if we just miss out. He's done the big club experience and he's found out that it's not all that its cracked up to be!
Re. OP, I think it sends the wrong signal to make a loanee captain but yes, when he signs up permanently then he would make a great skipper.

If theyre that interested why didnt they do a loan deal when they knew we were in for him?

Iron2010 I see what you are saying but Southampton are flying at the moment so that would make us 9th.
A couple of injuries to Valencia, Sakho and Carrol (that is a given) and we will struggle to score.
Our first team is good but it you take out each player and look at who is waiting behind we will have issues like most mid-table teams.
I will be happy with a top 10 but not upset if we come say 12th.
Everyone is getting carried away with the fantastic start we could easily come back down to earth with a bump on Saturday against Stoke even though they are shit and on a bad run but they will be up for it - let's judge what we thing after Saturday's game yeah?!

The rumour is that he wants to stay in London / apparently his wife loves London
He has stated that he wants European football (Don't know if that rules us out then?)
Arsenal would be a very likely destination
Chelsea probably don't need him
Spurs very unlikely / can't see him wanting to play at Milton Keynes (even with possible European football?)
Man City probably don't need him
Man Utd maybe
Liverpool maybe
Everton unlikely (no European football?)
If Song is made captain now he would have the massive incentive to take us into Europe
Noble would always take up the armband if it went wrong
Nolan probably knows himself that he is nearing the end of his playing career at this level, though a useful sub for this season

As I understand it, he wants to stay in London. A big help in terms of trying to sign him.

When you look at that last post by pdc there really isn't an excuse for us not finishing 8th. Only Newcastle could make a case for finishing above us out of that group and they don't have a great side at the mo.
To stay on topic I think we will keep song if Wenger doesn't come in for him.

That is if Song is with us next year - his performances must be being noted by other bigger Premiership teams.
Arsenal would love him with them now exactly what they need
Chelsea - No not needed
Man City - No not needed
Man Utd - Maybe as they have no decent defensive midfielder
Liverpool - Possibly as Gerrard will not last
Everton - Maybe
Spurs - Maybe

Next season it should be formally announced. Kevin Nolan's wages have to be moved on since we need a large squad if we have European games.
Noble will wear it anytime allardyce jr doesn't start this year and it goes to Song next.
